Since many new players come to Aliens each year to see what Scenario Paintball is all about, I have created this guide to help answer many common questions for new players.

How is a Scenario Paintball game different than a weekend woodsball game ?
Its more fun for several reasons. Scenario's generally have a storyline that provides a reason to take a position or hold the hill. Scenarios are typically much larger in terms of the number of players and Scenarios offer significantly more playing time because the game is always going and there is action on the field all the time, you are seldom sitting around unless you choose to do so. You can attend alone or with a large group, you will be placed on large team and you will have plenty of opportunities to make new paintball teammates.

What is the Aliens Story line:
The Aliens story line is based on the 1986 Movie Aliens 2, and some of the fan fiction written about the Aliens Universe.
The premise is simple; the research ship Centari Elizabeth has crash landed on Planet LV-529. The Colonial Space Marines have responded to the crash signal and have sent the nearest ship the USS Gallant Mary to conduct a rescue and salvage mission, after all finders keepers out in the cold of space. The Mega-Corporation Weiland Yutani has dispatched their fastest corvette the Stiletto Executer and a crew of bio-weapons mercenaries to salvage the wreckage from the hands of the greedy government and prevent the Marines from stealing any expensive Xeno-Weapons technology.

The Space Marines and Yutani Mercenaries have landed on opposite sides of the crash site area and each side will attempt to retrieve any salvage materials and control areas of the crash site. Both the Marines and Mercenaries have a orbiting command ship that is scanning the crash area and if they detect any signals of salvage materials or other readings they will give their commanders a mission to investigate the area and retrieve any materials.

What are the Rules:
This is the most common question that I receive from new players. The basics are still the same, keep your goggles on, when you are hit put your barrel plug in and walk back to the Elimination Zone. Most players want to understand how the game works which is explained below as well as some of the specific rules.

Game Flow:
For Aliens the game flow is simple. Each player will be given an ID card, Hopper Cover, and Map when they register. Keep these in your possession at all times. The hopper cover is a piece of fabric either Red or Blue that MUST be attached over your hopper, this designates which team you are on. Player re-insertions are made by a timer and announced on a large speaker system, players will spend no more than 10-12 minutes in the Elimination Zones. The Elimination Zones, Camping and other game items will be indicated on the map.

Game Specific Rules:
Paradox Games uses the standard Scenario Paintball rules located at http://www.scenariopaintball.com However there are numerous special roles and additional rules that are specific to Aliens in the Rockies.

Black Ops Brigade: This is a group of guns for hire that can be bought or sold to any side at any time. They include assault teams and medic teams. Black Ops Brigade will help support missions but will not complete missions for other players. Normal elimination rules apply.

Aliens: Aliens are rarely seen in the game, they will be designated by foam body armor and black neoprene jerseys. If possible we suggest that
players avoid Aliens and Alien Hive areas. Aliens are very difficult to eliminate and may have frequent re-spawns near their hive area.

Terminators: Can be distinguished by their black trench coats. Terminators cannot be eliminated. However they can be deactivated for 1-2 minutes by heavy fire power. Terminator control systems can be hacked remotely and they can be re-programed at any time.

Predators: Predators are camouflaged "Invisible" killers who will generally shoot only one player at a time. If a predator is killed they may re-enter the game in 3 minutes at any location. Normal elimination rules apply.

Orbital Strike: If the fire danger is low enough there are pyro-technique effects for the game including an Orbital Strike. Which ever team controls the Satellite up-link can call in an Orbital strike on any grid on the field eliminating players in the designated grid.

Where is it?

Aliens is currently played in Logan Utah. Logan is about 1 1/2 Hours north of Salt Lake City. The address is 500 East 3800 South, Logan Utah. Here is a Google Map Link

Directions are as follows: Take I-15 North past Ogden, to the Highway 89 Logan Exit or Brigham City. Follow Highway 89 through the canyon (Sardine) towards Logan. At 3200 South in Logan you will see "Teds" service station, Turn Right (East) and go approximately 2 miles. Turn Left (north) for approximately 200 feet then a quick right (east) into the town of Millville . Take the first Right (South) on 100 West. This road bends and take you east, becoming 300 South. Take the first right again (south) you should be on 500 East (green sign). Continue South through the fields approximately 3/4 of a mile. Continue to go straight on the dirt road (says no trespassing). SLOW DOWN!!! 10 MPH on this private dirt road. This road continues past a gate and into the field area.

Is there camping or hotels:
Players can camp in the designated camping / parking areas starting Thursday evening before the event at no charge. There will be porta-potties available in each camping area however there is no water or other improvements so campers should plan accordingly.
There are several hotels available in Logan about 10 minutes from the field as well as restaurants and stores.
Hotels by proximity: Crystal Inn, Hampton Inn , Super 8, Motel 6, Best Western, Cache Valley Visitors information & more hotels

Do I need a team to play?
No, you can register as a single player and have a great time.

I am a new player can I come?
Yes in fact this a perfect format for new players to experience a large scenario game. You can play as aggressive or as safe as you desire to play. If you want to stay in the back and just defend or you can rush to the front lines for lots of action. It's all up to you and the way you like to play paintball.

How do I get involved in missions?
Register early and find who your team general is, then contact your general and get to know him or her. Communicate early and often. As of this day there is a good Aliens forum at Spec Ops Brigade

Can I use Smoke Bombs?
NO!!! This fire danger is too high for smoke bombs in this area in late summer.
